Rockwell Collins launches two new Helmet Mounted Displays featuring fully immersive simulation and training
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (November 17, 2009) - Rockwell Collins has launched two new rugged, high-resolution Helmet Mounted Displays (HMDs) that provide fully immersive
simulation and training experiences through advanced realistic visuals.
The products, named the SimEye SX45 and SimEye SX60, incorporate the latest in Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) micro display
technology, and will be on display at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in
Orlando, Nov. 30 - Dec. 3. "The SimEye SX45 and SimEye SX60 achieve a level of visual acuity not seen before in a helmet mounted display," said Bruce
King, vice president and general manager of Surface Solutions for Rockwell Collins. "These HMDs are the ultimate displays
for immersive part-task and integrated training environments with their lighter weight and easy-to-use features."
The compact SimEye SX45 and SimEye SX60 attach to a helmet or newly designed lightweight headband. With 1280 x 1024 Super
eXtended Graphics Array (SXGA) resolution users experience a highly realistic training environment. The SX45 provides a 45
degree Field of View (FOV) which delivers high image fidelity and is the optimal display for viewing fine details at long
range distances. The SX60, with its wider 60 degree FOV, provides heightened situational awareness and creates the feeling
of being fully immersed in the virtual environment.
Weighing less than one pound, these HMDs operate on less than three watts of power, maximizing battery life. The SX45 and
SX60 can also be powered through a USB port.
Rockwell Collins has delivered advanced HMD solutions for three decades, gaining a reputation for expertise in the combined
use of optic and electronic technologies. Whether it's for live combat or virtual training, Rockwell Collins provides advanced,
